Provide engineering analysis and pre-production digital storage equipment for reliability and consumer trials.
The Approach
A review of the technical and manufacturing difficulties was completed to ensure the tasks were clearly understood.
The Solution
Analysis of the heat generation and airflow through the product indicated that the layout of some areas needed review to reduce temperatures reached in some critical components.
Tests were completed on updated layouts with new mounting hardware and frames, resulting in significantly lower internal temperatures and less noise due to improved component location features. We were also able to utilise our production engineering knowledge to reduce the number, complexity and cost of parts, simplify assembly and ease servicing.
The Result
The reliability of the updated design was excellent, and our client moved the design forward to their partner for mass production.
