Point of Sale Equipment

The Challenge

Provide pre-production point of sale equipment for consumer trials on garage forecourts.

The Approach

After making sure that the user specification was clear, a review of the functionality and manufacturing location capability was undertaken before component selection could be completed.

The Solution

We replaced some components with alternatives to provide more efficient space utilisation, lower cost and better heat management. We were also able to convert some areas of the design to using standard parts in place of modified components.
Components were sourced using RIM casting for speed and low capital cost. This also offered a simple scaleup route for later manufacture.
The design was updated to reflect the preferred metal forming methods and assembly techniques to ensure cost effective transition to full scale manufacturing.
